SUBJECT: SGE PTO Newsletter December

Monthly Newsletter - December 2022
President's Message

Welcome to winter in Florida. We have decorated with snowflakes and all the students are excited for winter break.  The school and PTO are busy planning so many fun events this month with lots of volunteer opportunities. Tonight the PTO is hosting a private shopping event at Evereve from 6pm-8pm with 15% of the profits going back to the school. We also hope to see everyone at the annual PTO Holiday breakfast on Tuesday Dec 13 9:30am-10:30am at the Autumn Woods Clubhouse.  In the school you can volunteer to help with the teacher cookie exchange on Dec 14, PBIS Winterfest Dec 15, or possibly a classroom winter party (check with your teacher to see date/time as that is different for every classroom).  Click here to get involved- volunteer!

Treasurer Report- Tyrenda Reed
PTO Budget
PTO Expenses

As you can see in the pie chart PTO's biggest expense is academics which is what our main mission and goals for fundraising supports.  We also want to acknowledge our teachers and students for doing a great job and encourage them to keep striving to put their best foot forward so you can see we also focus a good part of our budget on student/teacher recognition.  That would include the amazing PBIS celebrations Ms. Carney organizes along with all the incentives provides.  Our lowest piece is PTO operational costs which is as it should since we are a non profit and all volunteer our time and expertise to create a well functioning Parent Teacher Organization- PTO.

Classroom Engagement Update:

Did you know already 13 teachers have claimed a garden bed, and 7 of them have plants starting to grow!

We’re looking for parents to assist helping the classes care for their garden, along with the teacher and the Garden Club help. You don’t need to be an expert on gardening- we will help with all the details and supplies. Just be willing to work with the classrooms to help their garden grow over the year (or even just a few months if that’s all you have). Time commitment is only about an hour per week. (For registered CCPS volunteers)

Take a look at the list of current teachers with a garden bed. Please respond if you can step up and help a specific class, hopefully with your child...

Community Outreach
Our Community Outreach team has been busier than normal this year with some curve balls thrown by mother nature. Jodi Heinold and Ms. Carney have been teaming up to make sure all the funds raised help our families this year.  This will be Jodi's last year at Sea Gate so we are looking for a new chair person.  Jodi has been such an asset to our school as helping truly is a passion of hers. Our agenda this year is below.
  • Hurricane Ian Relief
  • Thanksgiving dinners---25 dinners were delivered
  • Angel tree---click here to sponsor a family or child
  • Family Gift cards--PTO donated 28 $100 gift cards to our families
  • book drive---2nd semester
Thank you everyone for your support with the hurricane victim gift cards, cash, and physical donations. We were able create 20 comfort baskets for SGE kids who were effect by the hurricane plus all the gift cards have been distributed to the SGE families and staff members in need.  Be on the lookout for future emails on the upcoming drives.
